Founder of PravySoft Calicut. He was born in Calicut, Kerala, India.
Dr. Praveen Thappily is a multidisciplinary research scientist, lecturer and technology professional with expertise spanning electrochemistry, electronics, materials synthesis, embedded systems and machine learning.
His doctoral research focused on charge transport and device applications of a novel semiconducting material.
His professional work spans industrial electrolyzer design for large-scale hydrogen production, electric vehicle battery research, degradation modelling, quality analysis, embedded systems development, PCB design and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. He has also contributed to materials design, nanoparticle incorporation, characterization and device manufacturing across multiple research and product-development contexts.
Dr. Thappily has been involved in major R&D initiatives including Automotive Batteries Reuse (ABR), where he helped establish dedicated experimental setups and safety measures for high-capacity battery testing. His work included state-of-health analysis, degradation modelling and second-life assessment of EV batteries.
Using data-driven and machine learning approaches, he improved the accuracy of remaining-life predictions. He also contributed to the design of a novel industrial electrolyzer for Kohler Company by customizing electrolyzer configurations, supporting electrochemical experimentation and optimizing hydrogen production processes.
He has additionally led and supported innovation-focused projects such as intelligent electrodes for hydrogen production and smart charging systems for electric vehicles, combining expertise in concept development, electronics circuit design, PCB design, system programming and bench testing.
